From Resilience
to WE-silience

Cultivating WE-silience in your organisation

The challenges facing societies, businesses, and individuals are growing. Responding to them will require us to become more resilient as individuals. But this alone isn’t enough. We also need shared resilience, or ‘WE-silience’, as we call it.

WE-silience means cultivating the resilience of our human systems. Of our teams, departments, and business units. Of our shared ability to handle stress, change, and learn. Human systems are unique. They can act with intentionality. Awaris can shift and develop these systems, helping organisations become more resilient as a whole. We developed Resilience Trainings for employees (individual learners), leaders, teams, and the organisation as a whole. These come in a variety of formats including trainings, sprints, journeys, and labs, coupled with appropriate asssessments.

Employees

The good news is that resilience can be learned.

While many people naturally assume some are just tougher and thus more resilient than others – this is only partially true. We found out something interesting. The more people engaged in Resilience Boosting Behaviours, the lower their perceived stress. This suggests that resilience can be developed.

Our programmes and tools are based on the latest neuroscience and research findings. Our WE-silience framework encompasses 12 evidence-based resilience skills. And three levels at which they’re trainable. Each of us is different and has a unique combination of resilience skills. And Awaris pinpoints these different strengths and development areas.

Awaris uses resilience techniques specifically adapted to the workplace. Through building resilience at work, participants will be able to integrate their resilience skills into their daily work. Making them happier, more effective employees.

Resilience Sprint

The challenges facing societies, businesses, and individuals are growing. There’s not much we can do about the difficulties of the modern world. But we can learn to deal with challenges differently. We need the ability to recover, recharge, rebalance, and reconnect. This is why Awaris’s resilience training is so important.

Resilience Journey

Resilience is fundamental in today’s uncertain world. It’s a crucial challenge for all people and parts of an organisation.
Awaris runs organisation-wide resilience training. We teach resilience concepts to hundreds of employees at a time. Our modular resilience training programme strengthens the resilience of employees. And in doing so, creates more sustainable and successful businesses.

Leaders

Leaders play a crucial role in building individual and organisational resilience.

Research has shown that a leader’s own stress mindset – how they deal with stress – has a strong impact on how they relate to the stress of others and even how stressed their followers feel. Similarly, a leader’s resilience style and their leadership skills can significantly contribute to lowering team or unit stress.

At Awaris, we work with learders to build their own resilience and cultivate their own resilience intelligence. Our leadership journeys and trainings equip them with heart rate variability devices. This gives them detailed assessments of not only stress and recovery over a period of three to five days, but also insights into relaxation, positive outlook, negativity, and focus.

Working with groups of leaders, we build a shared understanding of aspects of resilience and how they impact performance.  Awaris coaches leaders individually on building their resilience, and how to anchor some resilience behaviours in their teams.

Teams

Most of us work in teams, most of the time.  As social beings, our stress and negative emotions can easily transmit to others. But this is also true for our resilience mindset and behaviours.

When teams systematically anchor habits in their team work, it can contribute to strong improvements in both individual and team level outcomes.

We at Awaris have worked extensively with teams on anchoring positive habits of wellbeing, psychological safety, and collaboration in teams, which in turn boost resilience.

In our ResilientTeams Labs approach, we can work with up to 10 teams at a time. This ensures rapid scalability in building team-based resilience – while maintaining an impactful approach.

Organisations

The key to understanding team and organisational resilience (something we call WE-silience) requires a focus on three things:

  • Establishing a unified resilience framework and assessing resilience gaps in your organisation.
  • Building leadership and team resilience.
  • Building keystone organisational resilience habits – Keystone habits encourage widespread change by creating cultures where new values become ingrained. Keystone habits, because they’re visible, force us to make clear choices. We measure them and encourage all to stick to them. Many resilience and wellbeing initiatives don’t have the intended systemic impact, because they aren’t translated into keystone habits

This is what we at Awaris can provide. At the team and organisational level, we help companies build skills and establish keystone habits. These can help to define their working culture, promoting long-term resilience and business success.

Formats

We offer a number of formats for our trainings. Each with a different scale, timing, and impact:

Workshops – Intro sessions or sessions focused on specific actionable resilience skills. Useful for raising awareness and starting the journey.

Sprints – Around 10-20 days of daily input and practice online (20-30 minute sessions) Groups of 20 to 100. Quickly shifts habits and helps people anchor change.

Journeys –  Hundreds of people at can take individualised journeys based on assessments, at the same time Shared workshops and group celebration at the end.

Training – Classical formats for 12-30 people. Focus on a target population. High outcomes and lasting impact.

Labs – Large scale sessions where over 10 teams come together at the same time,  sahring insights and anchoring new habits.

Champions – Teaching internal leaders or employees to carry out training over two to fourmonths, with a modular structure online or face-to-face.

Assessments

Resilience is a multi-faceted issue. In our resilience model, we’ve identified 12 resilience skills and four resilience competencies – which vary across individuals.

To complete the individual resilience assessments takes eight to 12 minutes. The reports provide individuals with a snapshot of their resilience skills and suggestions for how these can be developed.

Awaris has also seen that teams have three additional areas – synchronisation, integration, and leadership – which impact team resilience.  Our team level resilience assessments give insights on how team habits impact wellbeing, psychological safety, and innovation.

At the leadership level, we support leaders with their own self assessments of their resilience skills. This is coupled with a reflection of their resilience mindset and how this might impact their team.  Finally, we also offer integrated organisational level outcomes for these assessments. These help provide a picture of which skills and competencies an organisation can focus on in order to provide an environment to flourish.
